Dear Sterndale Bennett,
Thank you for letting us see a copy
of Sir H. Seymour's despatch No.
682 (5/13B/45) of the 20th June and
enclosure about the proposal to appoint
an Economic Liaison Officer to work with
the American Army Headquarters. We have
read this with interest, particularly the
suggestion that this Officer is likely to
be used by the Americans for liaison on
general matters in addition to those for
which he is nominally to be appointed
and the reference to Hong Kong in paragraph
3B of Colonel Cowell's report. For our
part we should welcome the early appoint-
ment of such an Officer and should be glad to have
opportunity
to know whe is finally sex him
before he takes up his appointment.
